Hi friends 💕 For the last year I've been volunteering with the Sickle Cell Society on their exhibition and oral history project, Our Journey Our Story. The heartbreaking deaths of Evan Nathan Smith and Richard Okorogheye have shown, again, how little sickle cell is understood and how much it's overlooked. It's so frustrating. Sickle cell is so deeply intertwined with the history of the UK, with the NHS and health disparities and with 'unexplained' deaths in police custody.
