Plaits, Princesses + Pink Moisturiser

An award winning photography exhibition exploring Black women, femmes, non binary people and hair featuring Dawn Butler MP, author Otegha Uwagba and drag queen Son of a Tutu. Each person in these series of photos was asked to choose an object that reminded them of a memory of their hair, from tights, sports medals to wigs. They told their story (read them here) and had their portrait taken in a special location in Waltham Forest. This exhibition was featured in the Migration Museum and won a Making History Award from the Mayor of London.

Photography by NANA AMA.
